Carmel Mirani Kailainathan

Born and raised in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Carmel Mirani was the daughter of the late Lucian and Sabina Arasaratnam.  She was the beloved wife of the late Thiagarajah Kailainathan, and the daughter-in-law of the late Mr. and Mrs. Arumugam Thiagarajah.  She was the beloved sister of the late Wanohara Mariathas and Bernadette Anandarajah, who survives her.

Carmel Mirani was a devoted and treasured mother to her children, Marie Dinusha and Gerard Nishanthan.  She was also the mother-in-law of Jude Arianayagam and Mirabella Kailainathan.  She was the cherished grandmother of Sabina and Olivia Arianayagam, who brought her great pride and joy.

A dedicated educator, Carmel Mirani served as an English teacher at Holy Family Convent in Jaffna, Sri Lanka and Ramanathan Hindu Ladies College in Colombo, Sri Lanka.  She was admired for her commitment to her students and her passion for teaching, leaving a lasting impact on many young lives.

Carmel Mirani was a woman of great faith, and she lived her life according to the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ.  She will be remembered for her warmth, strength, devotion to family, and unwavering faith.  May her soul rest in eternal peace.

Family and friends are warmly invited to attend Carmel’s funeral at St Ives Corpus Christi Church.  263 Mona Vale Rd, St Ives NSW 2075 on Saturday 02 May.

Viewing from 10.30am.  Funeral Mass to commence at 11am, followed by interment at Frenchs Forest Bushland Cemetery.  1 Hakea Avenue, Frenchs Forest at approximately 12.30pm.

Wake at Corpus Christi church, from 1.00pm.
